  • This hidden cove lies at the foot of a valley just to the west of Challaborough. A pretty spot flanked by silvery white cliffs and backed by the rolling hills of the South Hams.

At low tide there are plenty of rock pools to explore on either side of the beach. Mid beach is less rocky so access to the water is easy. Although generally quite calm there are no lifeguards here so swimming is at your own risk.

Ayrmer Cove never really gets busy on account of its lack of direct access. There is a car park run by the National Trust, but it is a 15 minute walk away - albeit a pleasant walk. Alternatively it can be reached via the coast path, and many of the visitors will be walkers, along with the odd kayaker.

As you might imagine there isn’t anything in the way of facilities, but it’s a lovely spot and dogs are allowed year round.
