Widely regarded as the finest beach in the Stranraer area, Luce Sands is an expansive stretch of sheltered sand. At low tide the beach here extends around three miles from the village of Sandhead, home to the Sands of Luce holiday park.

The bay here is also rich in marine wildlife and is designated a Special Area for Conservation (SAC) for its dune, seashore and seabed habitats.

Quite possibly the best beach in the UK with 6 miles of sandy beach and a stretch of pebbled beach also. Views stretch over luce Bay to Wigtownshire. The sea is safe with the shallow water. There is a convenience shop and pub restaurant close by. Kite flying on boards and sea boarding are also popular. Bass and flat fish can be caught off this beach with a good turn of waves using lug worm dug on the beach. Sandhead is Scotland’s little secret.
