Two miles of beautiful sandy beach make this one of the island’s finest beaches. The name itself means ‘Big beach’ and it doesn’t disappoint. In fact there is so much space that the beach doubles as a runway for the island’s (Barra) airport.

The beach is sometimes referred to as ‘The Cockle Strand’ owing to the abundance of cockles and other shellfish to be found here.
