Oddicombe Beach
This sheltered shingle beach just north of Torquay on the English Riviera is a family favourite, often busy in summer. There are deckchairs, kayak, pedalo, and sunbed hire on offer. This UNESCO Global Geopark Key Site has interesting cliff formations and geology: the limestone and red sandstone are especially dramatic, and landslides have affected the seaside landscape.
The car park is around half a mile away from the beach, with the nearest car parks at St Marychurch and Princes Street. The approach to the beach is very steep; taking the Babbacombe Cliff Railway is another option, leading to the promenade. There are steps from the promenade to the beach and there is a cafe and shop on the beach.
Dogs are not permitted on Oddicombe Beach from 1 May to 30 September, and there is no lifeguard service. There are disabled toilet facilities available at this beach although visitors might like to know that the toilets are seasonal, summer only.
The beach is a popular location for those who enjoy sailing and other watersports, and holds a Blue Flag Award.

Aug 22nd 2022Beautiful beach…. cafe, toilets, gift shop and water sports hire are all here. We hired two stand up paddleboards and paddled over to babbacombe beach and back. Both beautiful beaches. The waters liovely and clear…..the best beach we visited while in Devon.
