Hampton Pier - West Beach (Stud Hill)
Hampton-on-Sea is a small seaside settlement close to Herne Bay. The area of beach west of the pier is predominantly shingle, with mud and some patches of sand exposed at low tide.
There are a number of groynes and other sea defences- this part of the coastline has been the subject of significant coastal erosion. From the beach there are views out over the Thames Estuary.
Hampton Pier beach is backed by a promenade, behind which is Hampton Pier Recreation Ground- a good spot for a summer picnic.
Parking with public toilets can be found adjacent to the pier, at the end of Hampton Pier Avenue. There is also a car park close to the beach on Swalecliffe Avenue.
