Winchelsea Beach - East Sussex

Remains of Smeaton's Harbour

See [[907187]] for the full story. The current replenished shingle covers the remains of the eastern arm of the pierhead that can be seen in [[42470]] which is buried underneath just beyond the wooden stumps at the foot of the beach. The stumps are the remnants of the former wooden pier that extended beyond the stone pierhead to protect the harbour mouth.
