Westhaven Beach - Tayside

Evening at West Haven Harbour

Close to midsummer and even as it approaches 10pm it is still light despite rain clouds over Carnoustie. The shelter provided by the natural harbour at West Haven is well demonstrated here. Note the contrast between the mirror like water in the foreground and the rougher water of the bay behind. The bedrock here slopes at a gentle incline into the see. This section is exposed between Carnoustie Bay and an area to the east of Hatton. There is another inlet at East Haven, which like West Haven was traditionally a fishing town. Small boats still operate out of each village on a hobby/supplemental basis.
