Biggar Bank Beach (Walney Island) - Cumbria

Rock defences

Walney Island, never much more than 1.5km wide is near its narrowest at this point - the saltmarsh on the east side of the island is only about 500m away. Rocks have been deposited to strengthen the eroding pebbles and sand.
