Porth Wen Beach - Anglesey

Porth Wen brickworks

Dist:0.2km
Before these brickworks closed at the start of the First World War, it manufactured refractory bricks for the steel industry. Quartzite from a quarry at Graig Wen was brought down the hillside in wagons on a tramway. Yellow clay was added to the crushed rock to make the bricks. The site is now derelict, but can be easily accessed from the coastal path.
