Porth Ceiriad Beach Photo

Porth Ceiriad Beach - Gwynedd

Quaternary outcrop

Cliffs at the back of Porth Ceiriad are partly in rock, but between the headlands comprise eroding glacial deposits. This goes some way to explain the abundance of beautiful sand, for which it is famed. It also explains the wonderful and eclectic mixture of variously far-travelled erratic cobbles which were carried by ice sheets during the last glacial maximum.
