Newburgh Beach - Grampian

Pillbox. Part of the WW2 beach defences at Newburgh

Dist:0.3km
This brick pillbox sits among the dunes behind the beach at Newburgh. It formed part of the formidable beach defences near the mouth of the Ythan. These include large gun emplacements, concrete anti-tank blocks, scaffolding to prevent gliders landing and barbed wire entanglements. Taken on Armistice Day 2007.
