Mwnt Beach - Ceredigion

Mwnt

Mwnt, a National Trust property, is one of the most attractive spots on the Cardigan Bay coast. On this occasion, however, heavy rain had put off all but the most hardy holidaymakers. The hill to the north of the beach is Foel-y-Mwnt, and the white building to the right of that is the Church of the Holy Cross, Mwnt. It is said that there has been a church at this lonely spot since the 6th century when it sheltered pilgrims travelling to St David's. The present building is of uncertain age, but parts may date back to the 11th century. A wedding was taking place in the church on this Saturday afternoon - an idyllic location, sadly somewhat spoilt by the weather.
