Formby Beach - Merseyside

Ruins of lifeboat station, Formby Point

Britain's first lifeboat station was here by 1776. In 1793 when rebuilt it was 100 yards above high water - now it is at high water. It was a lifeboat station until 1918. The building was used as a cafe, and was demolished in 1965.
