East Pier Beach (Worthing) Photo
Worthing Pier, West Sussex
The pier was first opened in 1862, extended in 1888 and rebuilt after a destructive storm in March 1913. The final remnants of the 1888 pier were destroyed by fire in 1933. The pier was "sectioned" during World War II to prevent it being useful to invading Germans, then re-opened in 1946.
