Cleveland Way at Cattersty Sands

The Cleveland Way drops down a steep slope to a small dune area at the back of the beach. Ahead is a gap in the old tramway which brought material down from the ironworks on the clifftop. The cliffs to the right have the appearance of volcanic rock, but are actually formed by the dumping of slag from the ironworks.
