Bendricks Beach - Glamorgan

Mercia Mudstones at Bendrick Rock

The Cadoxton River enters the sea amidst mud and boulders overlying Mercia Mudstone rock dating from the Triassic period and a variety of limestones dating from the Carboniferous period. Triassic sandstones form the low cliffs in the distance. The river formerly entered the sea to the west of Barry Island but was diverted during the industrialisation of the area in the nineteenth century.
