  • As the name suggests this lovely stretch of sand is situated on the east coast of South Ronaldsay, the most southerly of the Orkney Islands.

Eastside beach is made up of a crescent of golden sand backed by low dunes and fields beyond. On the northern headland overlooking the beach is the chapel and graveyard of St Peter’s Kirk.

A little further along is the Millennium Stone, a 2 metre tall standing stone created to celebrate the year 2,000. Engraved with a dragon head, Viking longship and Pictish symbols the stone also has a hole which is said to represent an oath.
