Watcombe Bay

Watcombe Bay is located on the other side of Fort Redoubt from Freshwater Bay. Cut into the white chalk cliff face of Highdown Cliffs access is somewhat of a challenge.

Once upon a time a tunnel lead from the cliff tops down to the beach but this has been blocked up at some point. Therefore the only real way of getting to the beach is a scramble over the rocks from Freshwater Bay at low tide.

The beach at Watcombe Bay itself is a mix of sand and shingle. It is an interesting little cove with both sea stacks and caves well worth exploring.
