  • Cold Knap beach is a long stretch of steeply shelving pebbles, although at low tide some sand is revealed.

The beach at Cold Knap is located around a mile from the main resort beach at Barry. As a result it is always quieter, although it still gets busy in the summer. Facilities are good here and the area itself is pleasant with a fairly affluent feel to it.

Cold Knap even has something for the geologists out there; some fine examples of horizontal sedimentary strata can be seen in the cliffs towards the western end of the beach.
