The sandy beach of Clacton is most easily recognizable by its famous pier, which dates back to 1877. It is a popular family destination due to the high number of activities and entertainments on and around the beach.

Clacton Pier provides most of the entertainment to beachgoers, including an aquarium, fishing, bowling, several rides, an arcade and more. Behind the pier is a line of popular restaurants sure to satisfy all tastes and moods.

Visitors looking to spend some time on the sand can enjoy beach hut and deck chair hires, a shop and an cafe/restaurant. The lifeguard patrol, first aid area and lost child centre also means parents can rest assured that a day out on this beach will be a fun and safe excursion for the whole family.
