Cahore’s South beach runs down the coast from Cahore Point. For all intents and purposes this vast, sandy beach goes on for ever!

Much of the length of Cahore beach is backed by an extensive sand dune system, which In places reach over 50 feet in height. There are also wetlands, lagoons and grasslands beyond which form some important habitats. For this reason the “Cahore Dunes & Polders” have a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) designation.

If the beach here looks strangely familiar to you then it might be because much of the filming of the D-Day landings in the movie Saving Private Ryan took place here.
