  • Wide, sandy beach located just around the corner from the village of Moelfre. The beach of Traeth Lligwy is backed by low sand dunes giving it a wild, open feel, which is exactly what it is.

At low tide a large expanse of firm sand is revealed providing all the space you could need for beach games of any description. Along with a range of facilities including toilets, car parks and a shop this is a great family beach that still manges to retain a natural feel.

Traeth Lligwy beach is also popular with water sports enthusiasts and can be good for windsurfing, kitesurfing and even surfing.

    Spacious sandy beach

Great beach backed by dunes, large carpark and seasonal cafe. Toilets in carpark. Good base for cliff top walks into Moelfre. Mixed landscape including sand dunes, steam estuary, reed beds, rocks and rock pools. In the summer the cafe has an events tent with bar and live music.

    Space for All

We went on a August Bank Holiday Monday and found there was plenty of space despite the large amount of people. There were dogs on the beach but they were not running amok nor did they number in their hundreds.

The whole area was generally clean and tidy and the facilities are centred unobtrusively around the main car park.

Beaches are there to be enjoyed by us all, if you want a quite space then a few minutes walk will take you to Traeth Yr Ora where we found ourselves totally alone.

    Just beautiful.

Especially if you can’t get there every single day of your life.

No, that would not be boring…this English Garbage is boring! Isn’t it Ed!

Great beach.  Visited here as a child in the 50’s on family holidays and, apart from the cafe and car park, nothing had changed.  Dogs allowed, but it was clean of dog poo - and bins were provided.  One change we would have appreciated would have been the provision of public toilets.  It said that these were available, but we could not locate any!

BEWARE ANPR CAMERAS IN CAR PARK

Will not be visiting again as we must have overstayed or time on the car park ticket and have just received an ANPR parking charge of £100.

    Parking charges killing it

£2/hr charge is ridiculous and ruining this amenity for local residents. One feels for the owner of the cafe who is having her business systematically destroyed.

    A gem of a beach

This is such a special beach.  It’s extraordinarily beautiful and it led us to falling in love with Anglesey.
It can get busy during school hols, but then so does any decent beach. And yet there is always somewhere to park the car (you can purchase a season ticket for car park too).
Yes, dogs are allowed, but I would say the vast majority of dog owners are responsible.  We spent many weeks on this beach last year and did not encounter dog mess or unruly dogs.  We are not dog owners and so I say this objectively.
It can also be incredibly peaceful on this beach with hardly a soul around.  There is also a beautiful walk at the back of the beach through a conservation area. There are plenty of unobtrusive facilities, small shop, hot food, drink and ice cream, and of course toilets.  The beach is silky sand and the water is lovely for swimming.

This was a beautiful wild beach which Over the last few years has now ,in my opinion ,been ruined by commercialism..It depends on what you like but don’t expect to see it as in the photos .It is now overrun with people .Its still a wonderful beach if you don’t mind crowds

great beach but would be even better without dogs in the summer for benefit of small children and other people using the beach
also could do with disabled access to the beach

    Overwhelmed by barking dogs

This beach is now not suitable for children. There is so much dog poo.

It used to be a serene place but everybody has about 3 dogs and there is nowhere to put the mess so people cover with sand. Dogs are off the lead so get ready to have your children intimidated. On the day I went the beach had maybe 400 people and that meant 400-500 dogs. It was out of control and people just couldn’t care less about it. So Sad. If you love your dog and hate cleaning up the mess this beach is for you. If you want a family day out forget it.
