Often referred to as Tolsta beach, Traigh Mhòr is one of the biggest and best beaches on Lewis. Comprised of beautiful fine,  golden-white sand the beach is backed by low, grassy dunes for much of its 2 miles.

Traigh Mhòr faces north east across the Minch - the channel between Lewis and the mainland. There are often powerful ocean swells here which makes for dramatic viewing and also makes the beach popular with surfers.
