  • Traditional seaside resort Cleethorpes has close ties to nearby Grimsby. The beaches are close to a host of activities and amenities, including donkey rides, a boating lake, a paddling pool, and award-winning gardens located on the promenade.

The beach is sandy and stretches for miles; there is a lifeguard service in season. Cleethorpes is a popular location for canoeing and kayaking, jet-skiing, kite surfing, paddle-boarding, sailing, swimming and bathing, and wind surfing. Activities on offer include arcades on the promenade, beach donkeys, crazy golf, deckchairs for hire, and ice cream and fish and chips with a view on the traditional pier. Other restaurants are also available.

There is a council-operated beach safety service throughout the year, providing first aid, a lost children’s service, and general beach safety. This location is looked after by the RNLI, but there is no dedicated lifeguard. The beach has good parking, beach huts, deck chair hire, pedalos, a slipway, toilets, and disabled access. It may also be possible to borrow beach friendly wheelchairs, availability allowing. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from Easter to October.

In summer 2021 Cleethorpes was named as the second best beach in the UK by the Trainline (Margate pipped it to the post). The railway station is extremely close to the seafront – literally just across the road.

    Draconian fine

I had the same experience in 2021 in April. The promenade was so busy, the dog signs were obscured and i wrongly assumed in common with other local beaches that dog restrictions applies from May. Got pounced on immediately after walking on the beach ironically to get away from crowds and socially distance, which no local official was paying attention to after parking at the station. No warning or acceptance of honest mistake. Just fined £100. Spoilt the visit aimed at getting away from the house in order to let my wife sleep off her night shift. Her wages that night just about covered the fine

Come to Cleethorpes and swim in Raw sewage

    Nov 07th 2021

Disappointed that after seeing the beach had blue flag status we discovered we had actually being swimming in raw sewage.
Not what we expected when we saw 5 stars for water quality and a blue flag award.

    Unfair dog fine

Had the same problem today in that we approached the edge of the beach near the leisure centre and we didn’t see any signs only for two officers to
Pounce on us immediately.  We were respectful to them as they are only doing their job but this did seem a little unfair as we had made a genuine mistake and were not aware - £1 fine is very harsh.  We will be appealing it.

    *DOG WALKERS PLEASE READ *
    **CLEETHORPES BEACH **

    Was very disappointed at cleethorpes
    Beach today
Was the First day we was able to travel due to coronavirus
In a year and we was Issued an £100 fine For walking the dog near the beach entrance near the Leisure centre.
They had no signs from the side we had walked to the beach
And two bully BOYS working for KINGOM approached my husband and family
Threatening us with the police if we didn’t give any details to him, walking behind us And making a scene.

    It Spoilt our Day out.
They was no need for it at all
I don’t normally write negative posts but I really do feel that it needs to be Brought to your notice

If it stops at least one person from getting a fine it’s worth it
Unprofessional bullies who intimidate and pray on the vulnerable to make one mistake!!!!!
Just So they can make a profit.
    Disgusting .
    So disappointed
