  • Vazon is a delightful, sandy beach on the north western coast of Guernsey. It is about a mile and a half long, making it the largest beach on the island. Get here at low tide to enjoy the vast expanse of sand.  Get here early and enjoy all-day sunshine until the evening. Vazon beach also benefits from some spectacular sunsets.

Vazon has gained a reputation for being clean and well-maintained, even having once been awarded The Telegraph’s award for ‘the cleanest beach in the U.K.’

The wide sandy beach is perfect for games and the water is popular for swimming, body boarding and surfing. The Guernsey Surf School is located on the beach and visitors can take surfing lessons as well as hire surfing and body boarding equipment. The school caters for all levels of ability.

There are plenty of free parking spaces next to the beach as well as public toilets and a few cafés. At the northern end of the beach there is a nature reserve and Fort Hommet, a fortification left over from the Napoleonic wars, which still commands a great view of Vazon Bay today.

A cycle path stretching along the northern coast of the island for nearly 10 miles also begins at Fort Hommet Nature Reserve. There are a few towns set back from the beach including Richmond, Vazon and Albecq. The largest of these is Albecq, towards the northern end of the beach, where visitors can find a range of pubs and restaurants.
